day 5: when you matter #sol15

WRITE your story.
SHARE your link.
GIVE some love via comments.

Taylor Swift writes catchy music.
"I love her!" her fans squeal with glee.
She is so annoying, their brothers say.
She matters.

Chicago is in the midst of a runoff election.
Chuy should be the next Mayor of Chicago!
"Yeah, I hate Rahm!"
They matter.

Lucy Calkins writes curriculum for teachers.
My nickname for Calkins? Lucifer!
Lucy Calkins and Workshop are best for students.
She matters.

Coke is a soft drink many people enjoy.
A fizzy Coke is just what I need - it's delicious!
But it's so bad for you....all that sugar?
It matters.

Chicago Cubs play baseball.
The North-Siders are my team!
Uuuggg - they never win.
They matter.

Standardized testing is used to measure* student learning.
We need accountability.
PARCC is not the answer.

It matters.

*Very loose definition of measure...

Trying something new today. When I was listening to the morning show on the radio yesterday, the DJ was interviewing a new signer, Sam Hunt. Sam has a huge following, but the DJ wanted to know if he had haters - because his music is so different. The DJ then said something that stuck with me....

If you're loved or hated, you matter. If you're just liked....are you remembered?

I am a former middle school teacher.
Geez, she's so mean and we have so much homework!
Happy Thanksgiving my favorite 8th grade teacher love you!
(I hope that) I matter.
